Yellow and White Daffodils

Plant a Thousand Daffodils

“If one daffodil is worth a thousand pleasures, then one is too few.”

—William Wordsworth

Plant a Thousand Daffodils is a volunteer-run City beautification program and fundraiser for the Foundation. Funds raised through the program benefit the community through scholarships and park enhancements such as benches, signs, and the upcoming pollinator garden at Flannagan Park. In just the first two years:

  • More than 100 volunteers planted approximately 7,000 daffodil bulbs in seven of our public parks and several public byways.

  • 75 Fourth Grade students at Mae Richardson Elementary planted 450 bulbs to beautify their campus, thanks to the generosity of the Table Rock Kiwanis Club.

  • Shooting Star Nursery provided labor, design expertise, and funds to plant 500 bulbs at the Taylor Road roundabout.

  • Dozens of local students participated in the poetry and art contests and in the ceremonies to honor and reward their creativity. The prizes were sponsored by the Table Rock Kiwanis Club and the Central Point Friends of the Library.

  • Many local businesses and individuals donated thousands of dollars to support the program, and many people purchased bulbs through the program to beautify their own homes and businesses.

We are extremely grateful for the community’s support for this project, and we look forward to reaping the benefits of the cheerful spring flowers for many years to come. Watch for upcoming opportunities to purchase bulbs to support the program and to be a volunteer planter.
